What is google? (Origin and development)

It all started back in 1996 when two fellows Larry Page and Sergey Brin from Stanford University, initiated a research project named BackRub. Soon, they invented an internet-based search engine and named it Google. The idea of the name google came from a mathematical expression called googol, which means a 1 followed by a 100 zeroes (1^100).
